Account Information: When you sign in with Google or create an account with email, we collect your name and email address.
Profile Information: Optional data you provide during onboarding, such as age, weight, height, activity level, dietary goals, and health conditions. This data is used to personalize your nutrition analysis.
Meal Data: Photos you take of meals, along with the AI-generated nutritional analysis, glycemic profile, and exercise equivalents. This data is stored in your private account.
Health Data: If you opt in, we sync nutrition data with Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android). We only write data you explicitly choose to sync and read basic metrics (weight, height, steps) to personalize your experience.
Usage Data: Basic analytics about app usage that are not linked to your identity.
Advertising Data: If you are a free tier user, our ad partner (Google AdMob) may collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) and ad interaction data to deliver and measure ads. On iOS, this is gated behind your App Tracking Transparency (ATT) consent. On Android, it is subject to your GDPR/consent choices where applicable. Premium subscribers do not see ads and are not subject to advertising data collection.
When you photograph a meal, the image is sent to Google's Gemini AI for analysis. The AI identifies food items, estimates portions, and returns nutritional data. Google's AI services are subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not use your meal photos to train AI models.
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:
CarbSequence requests camera access to photograph meals for nutritional analysis. Photos are only used for the analysis you initiate. You can also choose photos from your gallery. Camera access can be revoked at any time through your device settings.
The free tier of CarbSequence is ad-supported. We use Google AdMob to serve banner ads and rewarded ads (which free users may watch to unlock additional analyses).
iOS: When you first launch the App, you will be shown an App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt in accordance with Apple's requirements. If you decline, AdMob will serve non-personalized ads and will not access your IDFA. Your choice does not affect your ability to use the App.
Android: Where required by law (e.g., users in the EU/EEA), you will be shown a GDPR consent dialog powered by Google's User Messaging Platform before any ads are loaded. You may update your consent choices at any time in your device settings.
To opt out of personalized advertising entirely: on iOS go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; on Android go to Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID.
CarbSequence is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or via email. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at privacy@carbsequence.com.
